Interns Gain Valuable Experience

If you visited the Center during the summer you may have noticed our "intern army." Throughout the summer, the Center's keepers trained 22 interns to do a range of care for our animals, including preparing their food and feeding them, cleaning their cages, and providing enrichment. The interns also learned about construction, facility maintenance, and fundraising.

Each intern was required to complete a project. These included nutrition studies, cage renovations, a book about our animals, a "virtual tour" slideshow, and a garden.

Our hardworking interns are a vital source of labor at the Center throughout the year. In return, they receive hands-on experience vital to their resumes.
